Rik Bentes’ passion for the arts comes from his childhood. Illustrations are the means the artist chose to earn his living from. Since 2016, the artist has been creating illustrations for publishers of school materials for children and youth. Currently, he works with comic books for illustrators from other countries.
This is his second participation in the Arte-em-Cores Project. For the first edition, he created the work “Stellar Child”, inspired by his children. This time he portrays a regional legend that his son researched for a school project. He was delighted by the legend of “The Hairy Guy” and portrayed the students’ search for cultural information in the region. The work is divided in two parts: the legend itself is portrayed on the left side, and the right side is meant to be a tribute to the female managers at the Pará Public Education Workers Union (SINTEPP). The artwork is located in the organization’s country club.
