A self-taught artist and native to Marabá, Kauê was born with a fascination for art. He has always drawn and grew up learning several art techniques. He explains the importance of art in his life citing Ferreira Gullar, who once said that “art exists because life is not enough”. Currently, Kauê works as a painter and photographer.
In the work “Legends – Nego D’água”, the artist sought inspiration in one of his city’s legends, painting it from his perspective. Moreover, he brought the folkloric world into the work with the aim of introducing the new generation into historical legends and myths in the region. For the work, Kauê chose the legend of Nego D’água, an inhabitant who lives by the rivers Tocantins and Itacaiúnas.
