Maraya is a graduate student in visual arts at the Federal University of the South and Southeast of Pará – Unifesspa, where she works as a tutor of drawing and painting. Born in Abel Figueiredo (PA), she moved with her family to Marabá while still a child. From an early age, she has had a keen interest in drawing and, more recently, in painting.

In her panel Dona Onete e Jambu (Mrs. Onete and Jambu) shown here, she uses a mixed acrylic technique to pay homage to music, women and her home state´s cuisine, seeking to avoid the recurring motifs in the local art scene such as chestnut trees and riverside life.
